Skydiving
...is the thrill of a lifetime for most people. Either the thrill of exiting an aircraft for no apparent reason, or getting over a fear of heights, modern day skydiving is a safe sport practiced worldwide. The Kansas State University Parachute Club, or Skydive K-State is pleased to offer skydiving as a safe activity to both students and the public at the same rate. There are two ways to enter the sport of skydiving, you can either make a tandem or static line jump.
A tandem skydive is performed from 10,000ft attached to an instructor. There is some basic training involved with making a tandem skydive, but it does not require a class like the static line jump does.
A static line jump is very different than a tandem skydive. A static line jump is performed from 3,500ft and most noticeably, by yourself. To perform a static line jump, there is a minimum of 6 hours of training beforehand. We offer a number of classes each semester as well as during the summer. All our classes run on a Friday night from 6pm-10pm and then the following morning from 8am-your first jump. We usually recommend that you plan on making Saturday a day of skydiving as certain things such as weather may prevent you from jumping on time. Our static line course is divided up over 2 days, Friday night 6-10pm and then the following morning at 8am-your first jump. We teach classes year round and can be found on the sign-up page. The course costs $170 which covers all your training, club dues and gear rental for the semester and your first jump. Full payment is required to secure your spot in a class or tandem.
The other difference in the two is the cost. A tandem skydive costs $185 and is for that jump and training. If you were to want to make a second jump, or take the static line course, it would be $105 vs. $31 for your second static line jump if you were to take the class.
We understand that skydiving isn't for everyone and that sometimes people only intend on making one or two jumps. Please look into the two different ways of making your first skydive, visit our F.A.Q's page or feel free to contact us with any further questions.
